Pixies Playing At V Festival And Bumbershoot
By the time internal tensions splintered the Pixies in 1993, their influence on such acts as Nirvana and Radiohead -- and on alternative rock in general -- had already been cemented. And while the group's upcoming reunion tour shocked fans familiar with the band's famously feuding past, the demand for tickets comes as no surprise to those involved with the tour. "I don't want to come off as wacky, but I expected it," says the group's agent, Marc Geiger. "I firmly thought that, like a fine wine, the Pixies only appreciated in terms of value."...
...After Coachella, the Pixies head to Europe for more than 20 headlining and festival appearances ending July 11 at Scotland's T in the Park Festival. Although the band has been rumored as a possible Lollapalooza headliner, Geiger insists plans for the ensuing six weeks are undecided, beyond August stops at the V Festival in the United Kingdom and a Sept. 6 appearance at Seattle's Bumbershoot festival.

New Album Due May 4th
4AD/Beggars Group has set a May 4 release date for the Pixies retrospective "Wave of Mutilation" and a self-titled DVD. As first reported here in December, the 23-track "Mutilation" is intended as a replacement for the 1997 best-of "Death to the Pixies," which is now out of print. The set will feature such favorites as "Here Comes Your Man," "Dig for Fire" and "Gigantic" alongside a remix of "Debaser." The DVD sports a host of music videos, a 1988 concert from London and the documentary "Gouge."
The Pixies are gearing up for their first major tour since 1992, which will kick off April 14 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. According to a source, the group is still deciding its plans for after the close of a 20-plus date European run, which will end in mid-July. An extensive North American tour is taking shape for the fall.

New Material On Forthcoming Reunion Tour!!!
The Pixies have revealed they will be playing new material on their forthcoming reunion tour. The band play their first live shows in 12 years this spring, kicking off in Winnipeg on April 14. The jaunt includes an extensive trawl round the summer European festivals, a couple of dates supporting Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a four-night, sold-out residency at London Brixton Academy.
"A statement on the band's new website pixiesmusic.com states: "The Pixies have rehearsed and they will rehearse again in March in a secret location in Los Angeles. "Yes, they have decided which tunes they are doing. For the most part, they'll be doing Pixies ' tunes. As for new songs, there's a Latvian lullaby, a Czech dirge and a Bulgarian ballad."
