Pixies "Debaser" Released On Austin City Limits DVD and CD

Pixies

The Pixies song Debaser is the first song on the CD and the fourth song on disc two of the DVD. In addition to the Pixies the Austin City Limits CD and DVD features songs from a varitry of other artists that performed at the Austin City Limits Music Festival including Broken Social Scene. It's definitly worth checking out. More information follows below.

Rhino Entertainment salutes the longevity of public television icon Austin City Limits and spotlights standout performances from the fourth annual AUSTIN CITY LIMITS MUSIC FESTIVAL on CD and DVD. Celebrating three decades as a premiere showcase for live music on television, the award-winning program came to life four years ago as a three-day concert series. Last September, more than 130 bands performed on eight stages in front of a daily crowd of 70,000 people at the ACL Festival.

Recorded September 17-19, 2004, on the rolling green acreage of Zilker Park in Austin, the CD features performances by 16 different artists while the DVD features video footage of 24 performances, including eight songs not featured on the CD. The audio and expanded-video versions are both available August 30 at retail outlets and at www.rhino.com for $18.98 and $19.95, respectively.

The eclectic mix of artists featured at last year's Festival reflects the television program's rich history of diversity. Since Austin City Limits premiered in 1976 on PBS, more than 500 artists of all different genres have performed at the venerable KLRU-TV studios. That list includes The Neville Brothers, Shelby Lynne, and Blind Boys of Alabama, all of whom appear on both the CD and DVD versions of AUSTIN CITY LIMITS MUSIC FESTIVAL.

Shared highlights on the DVD and CD also include the reunited Pixies powering through "Debaser," former-Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio taking his musical chops for an eight-minute walk on "First Tube," a passionate performance of "Be Be Your Love" by Rachael Yamagata, along with performances by Los Lonely Boys, Drive-By Truckers, Cake, Ben Harper, and Josh Rouse. Equally unclassifiable, the DVD-exclusive performances run the gamut from Sloan's "I Am The Cancer" and Rosanne Cash's "Seven Year Ache" to Jack Johnson's "Wasting Time" and Sheryl Crow's "Light In Your Eyes." The DVD also includes performances by Old 97's and Howie Day. The CD version includes an exclusive as well, the track "Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional.
